AAA Cavalier Bremworth Design Awards 2010 Pre-registration details
Competition outline:
Entries are invited from architects, architectural students, graduates, engineers, planners, landscape architects and designers for the 2010 Cavalier Bremworth AAA design awards. A competition sponsored by Cavalier Bremworth to encourage design excellence in architecture.
Entry Categories: The entries will be judged in two categories, entrants must state category A or category B when submitting work. A winner and a runner up will be awarded in both categories. The judges’ decision is final.
Category A: Student; Refers to work done while the entrant was enrolled as a student. The winner receives $3000 and a trophy designed by Christopher Metcalfe. The runner-up receives $1000.
Category B: Open: Refers to work by practicing architects, graduates, designers, and related professionals throughout New Zealand. The winner receives $5000 and a trophy designed by Christopher Metcalfe. The runner-up receives $1000.
Judges:
Craig Craig Moller (Jon Craig), RTA Studio (Richard Naish) and Neeson Murcutt of Australia.
Conditions of entry:
1. Entries must deal with an aspect of the built environment and while not necessarily the result of an actual commission, they must be a solution to a design problem.
2. Entries must consist of projects, which are not under construction or completed as at the closing date.
3. Each entry must be accompanied by an outline stating the factors that influence the solution and/or an explanation of the design concepts (A4 sheet max). A sticker with your registration number will be supplied upon delivering your work, but the entrant’s name or identifying details are not to be included. You should also include a digital copy of your work on a CD – this may include photographs of any models and scanned hand drawings.
4. While all care will be taken, AAA accepts no responsibility for entries. The return of entries is the responsibility of the entrant. We encourage the pick-up of entries at the conclusion of the awards event on the evening of Thursday 18 November, or by 9.30am the following morning.

Intention to enter the Awards must be registered by 4pm, Monday 15th November 2010.
6. All work must be delivered to AUT St Paul Street Gallery, Level 1, WM Building, 40 St Paul Street, School of Art & Design, AUT. Between 9.00am and 10:30am on Wednesday 17th November.
Entries from outside Auckland may be delivered / couriered to: Meena Patel, Cavalier Bremworth, 7 Grayson Ave, Papatoetoe, Auckland. To arrive no earlier than Monday 15 November.
7. Display of entries: The organizer does not guarantee that all work will be displayed at the event due to spatial limitations.
8. Return of Entries: Entries must be collected from the venue between 8am and 9:30am on Friday 20th November 2010, unless prior arrangement has been made with the organiser.

Winners will be announced and presented with their awards at the Awards function to be held at 7.00pm on Thursday 18 November 2010 at AUT St Paul Street Gallery
Form of entry:
Work submitted can be in the form of drawings, models, installation, computer
animations/sequences and/or photographs. Drawings are limited to 3 A1 panels (landscape format). Computer equipment and models are to be transported to the venue by the entrant and collected as per the details above.
Computer Entries:
Work to be viewed on a monitor (max 1 per entry) must be a computer animation or a sequence lasting a maximum of two minutes. This must not require viewer intervention once running. Please note the first 30 seconds will be critical to capture the judges’ attention. Headphones to be supplied for entries with a soundtrack. Drawings with computer entries limited to one A1 panel. If you are unable to supply a computer or monitor, but can forward a CD please notify the organiser on your pre-registration form.
All entries are to be titled. Title and registration number (automatically generated when you register online) must appear on each board, model, sheet of text, animation or CD. Names shall not appear on the work. Any work where names appear may, at the organisers’ discretion, be disqualified. We reserve the right to display work at our discretion.
Please provide pre-paid postage if return of the work is required.

No late entries will be accepted.
